Cyber Security Checklist for Small Business

1.Secure Your Accounts
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all important accounts.
- Use a password manager to create and store strong, unique passwords.
- Avoid shared accounts, or make sure they're tightly secured.
- Limit access so staff can only see what they need for their role.
2.Protect Devices and Information
- Turn on automatic updates for your systems and software.
- Set up regular data backups and test recovery.
- Install security software with regular scans.
- Factory reset any business devices before selling or disposing.
- Configure devices to auto-lock when not in use.
- Understand the types of data your business holds and your obligations.
3.Prepare Your People
- Provide cyber awareness training for staff.
- Create an incident response plan.
- Register with the ACSC Partnership Program for alerts and resources.
